Miscarriage, Infertility, and Pregnancy Loss is No Fool! April Fool's and Pregnancy Loss!

April Fools and Pregnancy Loss

Sunday is April Fools day, which also happens to fall on Resurrection Sunday also known as Easter Sunday. A day where people play mindless jokes or pranks on each other and say "April Fool!"

Over the last few years I've seen many fake pregnancy announcement April fool posts on Facebook. They have even googled an ultrasound to make the fake pregnancy announcement seem more legit. *insert double eye roll* I understand how this could be a fun joke to play with your friends and family, but I'm here to say that April Fools Day and Pregnancy Announcements are not synonymous. They don't mix or go together and if you or someone in your timeline jokes about being pregnant I would like you to direct them to this post. I have a three things below that people should be mindful of before they post fake pregnancy announcements on April Fool's Day.

(1) Before you post that April Fools joke think about the women who have/are enduring fertility treatments to become pregnant. They are spending thousands of dollars to just conceive a baby. Posting a joke about being pregnant is very insensitive to those women who simply can't get pregnant naturally.

(2) Before you post that April Fools joke think about the women who can't conceive a child at all. These women may suffer from endometriosis or other issues with their reproductive system that has them baron. Posting a joke about being pregnant is demeaning to those women whose bodies simply can't carry a child.

(3) Before you post that April Fools joke think about the women like myself who have lost children at birth or due to miscarriage. These women have seen their children go to heaven far too soon. Posting a joke about being pregnant is like a slap in the face to those women who wish they could see, hold, and kiss their child one more time.

April Fools is a day of fun and laughter to bring on the warmer weather, but it's not a day to joke about being pregnant.
